Von Miller Might Not Know His Teammate’s First Name
In an interview yesterday with ESPN’s Lindsay Czarniak, Von Miller claimed that the Denver Broncos have the “best secondary in the National Football League.” He then listed players in the secondary:
“Starts with Chris Harris, Aqib Talib, Bradley Roby, Kayvon Webster…um, TJ Ward…Dorian Stewart…”
Miller was obviously referring to teammate Darian Stewart, the Broncos’ starting free safety who posted 63 tackles, 10 passes defended, an interception and a forced fumble in 13 starts last season. Among other notable facts about Stewart is that the first syllable of his name is decidedly a wide “a” sound, as in “scary,” not an “o” sound, like “score.”
Watch how visibly Miller is wracking his brain to think of the name of the starting free safety on his defense.
Maybe Dorian is just a loving nickname given to Stewart by the Broncos defense to troll him. Maybe Von Miller was too busy thinking about chicken farming and Pluto. But maybe Von Miller literally doesn’t know the name of a starting defender on his team’s defense. That would be sad, and somehow, on-brand for the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
