Michael Bay’s Script for a Music Video of “The Times They Are A-Changin'”

Michael Bay has done enough to bring harm to the integrity of modern society, but wouldn’t it be borderline impressive if he could do even more? These are things we like to imagine, so here’s how we think Michael Bay might devise the script for a music video of Bob Dylan’s iconic “The Times They Are A-Changin'”.

Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside
And it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin’
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’.

Masses of people stampede through bustling city. A child falls but is saved from being trampled by a dull, but kind-hearted and beautiful woman. We see what they are running from: an enormous flood. A wall of water 300 feet high crashes on the city, knocking down iconic buildings and carrying hundreds of cars.

Cut to a 6’3″+, 200+ lb man running from the floodwaters but not fast enough, getting his skin ripped from his body by the sheer force. Masses of people swimming, drowning, dying, grasping for life. The water slams people against buildings, cars against bridges.

Cut to a room full of executives watching video footage presented by HERO, wearing skinny tie and thick-framed glasses. Video footage implies that robots are responsible for flood. Executives laugh, HERO leaves indignantly. Executives continue laughing. One executive notices someone at the door.

Executives overcome with horror as they realize robots are there to kill them.

Robots murder executives in brutal fashion. Building explodes as robots fly out of window.

HERO presents again to Congress. Looks of doubt dominate congressmen, but one politician seems convinced.

Politician stands up, makes impassioned speech in favor of war against robots. Congress is immediately won over.

Robots begin flying through windows and attacking Congressmen. HERO and Politican narrowly escape.

Cut to man holding wife as she cries in living room.

Recently conscripted son picks up bag to leave, kisses mother on cheek.

Wife falls to ground, crying hysterically, as song walks off into darkness.

Home explodes, instantly killing man and wife.

Men fights robots. Explosions.

HERO charges unarmed at leader of robots. The two clash in an epic duel.

HERO seems defeated when Politician shows up to help HERO defeat leader of robots.

HERO pushes button on robot leader that causes all robots to explode. Humans rejoice at victory, while a few mourn their fallen HERO and his ultimate sacrifice.
